Tabletop Games Club

Starting on Saturday May 3rd and running from 1.30 to 4.40 p.m. this group will initially be free to join and free to play. This is being made possible by a grant from Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber. We will be open to all ages but suggest anyone under 11 be accompanied by a responsible adult. We will try to keep a separate area for under 18's to use. We are looking at ALL kinds of tabletop games, including Table Tennis (if I can get the board to the hall from my house!). We have two Trustees who are DBS checked and have put aside money for more so if you are interested in helping to run the club as a volunteer please get in touch with me via email on chair@arborfieldvillagehall.org.uk or drop a note into the village hall post box.

Currently our planned list of traditional and new board games is looking like this: Shut the Box, Cribbage, Dominoes, Kingdomino, Tsuro, Uno, Qwirkle, Rummikub, Forbidden Island, Catan, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, Carcassone, Chess, Backgammon, Scrabble, King of Tokyo, Flip 7 and  Dobble.

Fantasy Role Play would be covered by Dungeons and Dragons. Considering the Stormwreck Isle D&D starter set as a possible intoduction to the game for newbies but Becky (very helpful manager at Eclectic Games in Reading) has suggested we just need the Players handbook. Needs a bit of research as I have not played much FRP since I played Runequest back in the 80's. Interested to hear from anyone who is capable of organising and running a game, contact chair@arborfieldvillagehall.org.uk if you could be a DM for D&D.

For tabletop wargames and miniatures I have a fair bit of Warhammer 40K and Fantasy scenery in my loft which I will dust off to bring to the club. I also have a few old painted Dwarves and Empire fantasy figures but things have moved on quite a bit since I last played Warhammer back in 2010 ish. Age of Sigmar and the 40K Ultimate Starter Sets would give all we need to get started but I am also considering just buying the core rule books then supplementing them with scenery and figures I have. If people want to play these games then try to bring along the necessary supplements  and equipment to make it work? I have now contacted Warhammer Alliance Education Support and am very pleased to report we have been accepted into their programme. This means a range of free resources will be on its way to us, hopefully to be received before we start the group on May 3rd, meanwhile get a taste for the range of games, scenery and figures they offer HERE. My special thanks to Dave at Warhammer Reading Branch for his help in getting me back up to speed with the hobby ;-)

Shown below is some "City fight" Scenery I am donating to the club for games of Warhammer 40K.
